Cañada College Kinesiology & Wellness Center

San Mateo, CA
Owner: San Mateo County Community College District
Construction Value: $125M

The CAN B1 New Kinesiology and Wellness Center is a Design-Build project consisting of the demolition of an existing athletics building (41,000 sf), followed by the construction of a new 85,000 sf structural steel building (home of the PE Department) with two swimming pools.

Signet provided special inspections and materials testing services on this project. Services included: Cast-In-Place Concrete, Shotcrete, Masonry, Structural Steel/Welding, Fire-Proofing, Post-Installed Anchors/Dowels, and Seismic Ceiling Anchors. Golden 1 Center Arena

Sacramento, CA
Owner: Sacramento Basketball Holdings
Construction Value: $380M

The Golden 1 Center is the new home of the Sacramento Kings, located in the heart of downtown Sacramento at the demolished Downtown Plaza Mall. Golden 1 Center is LEED Gold and was envisioned as an iconic multi-use Entertainment and Sports Center (ESC) that is an interactive “smart” building with the best in innovation and technology. The building frame consists of structural steel/braced frame construction, seats approximately 18,000 people, and has a total gross area of approximately 674,000 square feet. Special attention was given to the event floor with a single-ply waterproofing membrane, to secure a “bathtub type effect” at the mat slab.

Signet provided all on-site inspection and testing including Cast-In-Place Concrete, Shotcrete, Precast Concrete, Floor Flatness Testing, Concrete Unit Masonry, Structural Steel Framing, UT/NDT, Spray Applied Fireproofing, Waterproofing, and Roofing Applications. We had a team of inspectors including a Resident Inspector, four full-time inspectors, and five additional inspectors for peak periods of construction.
