The Golden 1 Center is the new home for the Sacramento Kings which is located in the heart of downtown Sacramento at the demolished Downtown Plaza Mall. Golden 1 Center is LEED Gold and was envisioned as an iconic multi-use Entertainment and Sports Center (ESC) that will be an interactive “smart” building with the best in innovation and technology. The building frame consists of structural steel/braced frame construction, seats approximately 18,000 people and have a total gross area of approximately 674,000 square feet. Special attention was given to the event floor with a single-ply waterproofing membrane, to secure a “bathtub type effect” at the mat slab. This was a fast track 2-year project working double shifts averaging 600 on-site workers to meet the NBA’s deadline to open October 2016.
Signet provided all onsite inspection and testing including cast-in-place concrete, shotcrete, precast concrete, floor flatness testing, concrete unit masonry, structural steel framing, UT/NDT, spray applied fireproofing, waterproofing and roofing application. We had a team of inspectors that included a Resident Inspector, four full-time inspectors and five additional inspectors for peak periods of construction.
