The Moscone Convention Center was the first major construction project Signet was awarded in 1980. In efforts to withstand ground water pressure, excavation and foundation work were completed for Moscone South (Phase I) and Moscone North/Esplanade Ballroom (Phase II). Seven-foot thick steel-reinforced concrete was poured into the two excavated blocks (approximately 1.2 million cubic yards). The above ground structures (north, south and Esplanade Ballroom) have a building area of over one million square feet.
Signet provided special inspection and materials testing services.
