The South Los Angeles Area High School #3 was one of an estimated $800 Million worth of construction that Signet provided services for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The new 231,000 square foot high school campus (15 acres) accommodates 2,025 students and consisted of four small schools or learning communities that included 75 classrooms, science labs, performing arts rooms, library, multi-purpose room, two gymnasiums, food service, administration, playfields, and surface parking. A football field, competition track, and additional athletic fields 187-space on-grade parking structure was constructed with 62,000 square feet of basketball courts on the second level. LAUSD has 800,000 students in over 900 schools within Los Angeles County and is the second largest school district in the nation. The $27 billion school construction and modernization Proposition B and Measure K included the construction of 132 new schools and purchase of 450 acres of new land to accommodate the explosive growth in the district’s student population.
Signet provided special inspection and material testing services including site reinforced concrete, masonry, structural steel, welding, metal decking, miscellaneous metals/stairways, fireproofing, and NDT testing.
