LOCATION: Sacramento, CA
CONSTRUCTION VALUE: $38 Million
OWNER: California State University, Sacramento
GENERAL CONTRACTOR: McCarthy Building Co
ARCHITECH: International Parking Design; Dreyfuss and Blackford
ENGINEER: Miyamoto International
The Parking Structure II project included the construction of a four-level, 1000-space, 300,000 square foot structure constructed with cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete beams and slabs. Columns were supported by 3-4 foot diameter concrete caissons that extended 20 feet or more into the ground. The seismic bracing system was constructed with 20” thick concrete shear walls. The Parking Structure III project included the construction of a 3100-space, 1 million square feet concrete post-tension garage with six levels; with one at grade and five elevated slab levels. At the time of completion, this was the largest parking structure in the CSU system, accommodating current student growth projects.
Signet provided a geotechnical engineering investigation and provided design recommendations for the Parking Structure II project, including CIDH piles. Additional services included earthwork construction, observation and special inspection of drilled piers, reinforcing steel, reinforced concrete, post-tension rebar and stressing operations, structural masonry, shotcrete, and welding inspection and NDT testing for both shop fabrication and field erection of structural steel.
