The 3.2-mile Oakland Airport Connector (OAC) project was a Design/Build effort that opened in 2015, consisting of an automated guideway system (people mover) direct cable pull, which now connects the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART Station to the Oakland International Airport (OAK) terminal. The project included an elevated guideway, a cut-and-cover tunnel section, and an at-grade section. In addition to the guideway, the project consists of a pedestrian bridge, two stations and a maintenance and storage facility. The OAC spans multiple public jurisdictions, including the City of Oakland, BART, Caltrans, and the Port of Oakland.
Signet provided special inspection and material testing services including geotechnical lab testing, soils compaction, pile/pier observation, AC observation, rebar, concrete, shop/field welding and UT, high-strength bolting, steel/specialty lab testing, and proof load/torque testing. Off-site source inspection locations included: Vancouver, Antioch, Napa, Fresno, and Oakland.
